Our Aim
To be one of the ten areas in the country who are best at making Valuing People happen by 2011
- If I want to take part in or even start up things to do in my community I will feel confident and be supported to do this
- I go into town with friends for a night out when I want to and I don't have to be back until late if this is what I want
- I choose who I go out and do hobbies with some of my friends have disabilities, others don't. I spend time with all of them
- I have support to understand and take part in things that make me feel like a citizen like voting , getting a passport , having a bank account
- If I say something as a citizen, other people (and whoever they might work for) will listen to me with the same respect and attention as they would give to anyone else.
- I will feel included when the Council and other organisations want to talk to the public
- When I went for my job, I had all the support I needed and I had a choice of things I wanted to do. I have support at work both from my employer and a supporter who I pay for through my individual budget
- My friend Jim, who is more disabled than me has the same chances in life as me
- I have as much control of my life as anyone else has over their lives - probably more so now I have my individual budget!
- I live at home, but when the time comes for me to move out I know I will have a choice of new homes and that I will understand how to get a new home and what happens when I am living there
- My cousin Chris, who's coming up to eighteen , has a plan for what she wants to do with her life.
- All the different services that can help her are signed up to this
I am supported by people who I helped choose and who know can do a good job of supporting me. - I feel safe with them.
- I feel safe when I am home and when I go out especially at night.
- I am confident about making good choices because I have easy to understand information about them
- I have a plan and the support I need to be healthy
I've got things to do on evening and at weekends - My Mum and Dad has feel involved in the Partnership Board’s work
- My Mum and Dad have the right support to help them be carers
